  • PERFECT SETTING: The star nut needs to be tapped into the fork steerer at the right position. Too low, the headset bolt cannot reach. Too high, the star nut cannot bite the steerer wall tightly.
  • COMPATIBILITY: The Threadless Nut Setter is used to install the star-fangled nut found on 1-1/8” threadless headset systems.
  • EASY TO USE: Install the star nut onto the tool and tap it into the fork steerer using a hammer.
  • HEAT TREATED: Heat treated high-quality steel constructed for a long time using.

Star. Nut fitting tool

All I can say is this is a great tool and very easy to use.

Star nut + installer tool

Great bit of kit. Made installing the start nut a breeze!

It does what it says

After 12 months on the bike I am fitter and have lost a fair amount of weight so its time to drop down the bar height. To do this I needed to remove the old star nut (with a piece of dowel and mallet) cut the steerer to length ( I used a standard plumbers pipe cutter) then installed the new star nut with this tool. The job took less than 30 minutes and worked flawlessly. Whilst I could have done the job without a specialist tool its not worth the risk on an expensive bike. My LBS quotes a standard fee of $50 + parts for this service and as I have 2 bikes I saved $100 ($80 after the cost of the tool). BTW there are plenty of good 3 minute YouTube videos on this subject and its worth watching one to make certain you install the star nut correctly to keep you safe out there.
