Essential tool for removing crankset.
By: JohnI used this tool for Shimano crankset on square taper shaft. Even despite damaged thread on crankset arm, by carefully fitting the tool it worked to remove crank. Quality of the tool is good, and it made a difficult job easy. Very good value.

Works well except in some cases
Chris D.Doesn't work on all crank arm/BB combos. So far I've used this on two bikes, both with square taper bottom brackets. On one it worked perfectly, on the other the shaft diameter was too large to pass through the crank arm and press on the bottom bracket spindle properly (with or without the tapered head on the end). I got around this using a button head screw and some washers as spacers to effectively bring the bottom bracket spindle surface out past the narrow section of the crank arm.
